students in a classroom with an astronaut
Mrs. Burrell's 5th grade gifted class had an exciting visit from a Solar System Ambassador this week! The grant from the Putnam Education Foundation that Mrs. Burrell received for her project "Experiments in Microgravity," has allowed her and her students to dig deeply into the exciting world of space science.
Beate Czogalla is the Professor of Theatre Design in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Georgia. She has had a lifelong interest in space exploration and has been in NASA's Education Outreach Programs for many years. Ms. Czogalla enjoys being a Solar System Ambassador, meeting new people and getting them excited about space exploration. She also writes the bi-weekly column "Our Space" for The Union Recorder.
During her visit, the students got to build circuits, launch rockets, experiment with lenses, and even learn that disposable diapers were originally designed for astronauts!
It was a great day for the students (and adults)!
